TUNIS, Jun 4 (NNN-TAP) – Tunisia and France signed several cooperation agreements here yesterday, before French Prime Minister, Jean Castex, wrapped up his visit.
The agreements cover the fields of maritime transport, prevention of natural disasters, seawater desalination, agriculture, commerce and digital technology.
A credit agreement of 41 million euros (49.72 million U.S. dollars) was inked, for the acquisition of six new tugs, for the benefit of the Tunisian Office of the Merchant Marine and Ports, to replace the six old ones acquired in 1980 and 1990.
Another credit agreement worth 40 million euros (48.51 million U.S. dollars) was signed to finance a Tunisian programme in developing resilience capacities to natural disasters.
A partnership agreement was concluded between the Tunisian National Company for Water Exploitation and Distribution, and French Development Agency, aiming to improve industrial and environmental performance of two desalination stations in south-eastern Tunisia with a budget of 202,000 euros (244,973 U.S. dollars).
A letter of intent was also signed to promote the establishment of a digital dialogue between the two countries, in addition to a new administrative arrangement in the agricultural field.
Leading a high-level delegation, the French prime minister started, Wednesday, a two-day official visit to Tunisia, to attend the third joint High Council of Cooperation.– NNN-TAP
