Six Afghan Civilians Killed As Mortar Mine Slams Into Residential Area

MAHMUD-E-RAQI, May 30 (NNN-AGENCIES) – Six civilians have been confirmed dead, as a mortar mine struck residential area in the north-eastern Kapisa province yesterday, provincial police spokesman, Shaeq Shurash said, today.

Blaming the Taliban militants for the attack, the official asserted that, the “Taliban rebels fired the mortar mine yesterday afternoon, which struck a residential area in Anarjoi village of Tagab district,” killing six and injuring 10 others, all civilians.

Taliban militants, who have intensified activities since the start of the U.S.-led forces’ withdrawal from Afghanistan, on May 1, haven’t made any comment.– NNN-AGENCIES
