HERAT, May 17 (NNN-XINHUA) – Three Taliban militants were killed this morning, when a homemade improvised roadside bomb they were planting exploded prematurely, in Afghanistan’s western Herat province, the local government confirmed.
The incident occurred along a district road, in Adraskan district, in the south of provincial capital, Herat city, early today, the government said, in a statement.
Militants in Afghanistan have been using the improvised explosive devices (IEDs), to make roadside bombs and landmines, to target security forces, but the lethal weapons also inflict casualties on civilians.
More than 920 civilians were killed and over 1,640 others wounded, in IED explosions in 2020, according to official figures.– NNN-XINHUA
