S.Korea Reports 511 More COVID-19 Cases, 128,283 In Total

SEOUL, May 11 (NNN-YONHAP) – South Korea reported 511 more cases of COVID-19 as of midnight, compared to 24 hours ago, raising the total number of infections to 128,283.

The daily caseload was up from 463 the previous day, but it stayed relatively low, due to the effect of fewer virus tests. The daily average number of confirmed cases for the past week stood at 573.

The daily number of infections hovered in triple figures since Nov 8 last year, due to cluster infections in Seoul and its surrounding Gyeonggi province, as well as, imported cases.

Of the new cases, 163 were Seoul residents and 127 were people residing in Gyeonggi province. Twenty-eight cases were imported from overseas, lifting the combined figure to 8,608.

Four more deaths were confirmed, bringing the death toll to 1,879. The total fatality rate stood at 1.46 percent.

A total of 873 more patients were discharged from quarantine after making full recovery, pulling up the combined number to 118,717. The total recovery rate was 92.54 percent.

The country tested more than 9.16 million people, among whom 8,951,373 tested negative for the virus and 84,628 are being checked.

Since the mass vaccination was launched on Feb 26, the country has administered COVID-19 vaccines to a total of 3,692,566 people with 584,013 fully vaccinated.– NNN-YONHAP
