BATU PAHAT, (Johor, Malaysia) April 26 (NNN-Bernama) — Ten Indonesian crewmen who were safely rescued after their two barter trade boats sank in the waters off Pulau Pisang in Pontian last Saturday, have been handed over to the Indonesian Consulate General here on Sunday.
Batu Pahat Maritime Zone director, Maritime Commander Mohammad Othman, said swab tests had also been carried out on the crewmen to ensure that they were free of COVID-19.
He said the KLM Putera Bangka 88 and KLM Sinar Mega barter trade boats sank at different spots after being hit by bad weather and heavy rain on Saturday.
“Six of the crewmen were onboard the Putera Bangka 88 boat, while four others were onboard the KLM Sinar Mega. All of them aged between 22 and 53,” he said in a statement here today.
