LAGOS, Apr 24 (NNN-NAN) – Bodies of three students, who were among those abducted, in an attack on a university in Kaduna state, north-west Nigeria, were found yesterday near the school, a government official said.
Greenfield University, a privately-owned institution, located along the Kaduna-Abuja highway in Chikun local government area of the state, was attacked by gunmen on Tuesday night, with unspecified number of students kidnapped.
Samuel Aruwan, the commissioner for internal security and home affairs in the state, told reporters yesterday, in Kaduna, that, the bodies of three abducted students were found close to the university yesterday.
“In an act of mindless evil and sheer wickedness, the armed bandits, who kidnapped students of Greenfield University, shot dead three of the students,” he said, without revealing the number of students abducted.
“The remains of three students were found today (Friday), in Kwanan Bature village, a location close to the university,” he added.
Governor of Kaduna state, Nasir El-Rufai, condemned the killing of the three students as “sheer wickedness, inhumanity, and an outright desecration of human lives by vile entities.”
He said, the bandits represent the worst of humankind and must be fought at all cost, for the violent wickedness they represent.
A series of attacks by armed groups have plagued the northern part of Nigeria in recent months. There have also been recurring incidents of livestock rustling and armed banditry in the region.– NNN-NAN
