MUMBAI, Apr 23 (NNN-PTI) – Death toll caused by low oxygen supply after leakage in the tank, rose to 29 in India’s Nashik city, 167 km from Mumbai, the country’s financial centre, according to local officials.
The tragedy at the civic-run hospital that struck on Wednesday, had previously reported 22 casualties out of the 150 patients admitted at the hospital.
The Maharashtra government has set up a seven-member panel, to probe into the tragic incident, and has also provided financial assistance of 6,659 U.S. dollars, to the family of each victim.
India has been facing shortage of oxygen supply, with the rising number of COVID-19 cases, following which, priority was given to usage of oxygen for healthcare over industrial usage.– NNN-PTI
