30 Killed In Road Accidents During Lao New Year

VIENTIANE, Apr 19 (NNN-KPL) – A total of 30 people were killed in 220 road accidents in Laos, during a three-day celebration of the Lao New Year, from Apr 14 to Apr 16, an official report, said.

Besides, 390 people were injured and more than 400 vehicles were damaged during the period, according to the latest report by the Traffic Police Department, under the Lao Ministry of Public Security.

Most road accidents occurred due to drunk driving and speeding, according to the report.

The traffic police are carrying out a road safety campaign, especially in schools, providing information on traffic regulations, and the dangers of careless driving. It is aimed at helping students and others, have a better understanding of traffic rules and the risks posed by road accidents.– NNN-KPL
