KABUL, Apr 14 (NNN-AGENCIES) – At least 51 people were killed, in insurgent activities and clashes in Afghanistan, in the past 24 hours, according to a local independent war monitoring group today.
“Within the past 24 hours, our team documented 51 deaths, including three civilians, six Afghan National Defence and Security Forces (ANDSF) members, and 42 Taliban militants,” Reduction in Violence (RiV) said.
The group said, there were also 18 civilians, 30 Taliban militants, and 11 security forces members wounded in the cited period.
The casualties observed came from eight violent incidents that took place in seven of the Asian country’s 34 provinces, according to the RiV figures.
In one incident, three civilians were killed and 18 others and four security forces members were wounded, when suspected militants detonated a car bomb in Farah city, capital of western Farah province, last night.
Taliban militants, who ruled the country before being ousted in late 2001, renewed armed insurgency, killing government troops as well as civilians.– NNN-AGENCIES
