SEOUL, Apr 14 (NNN-YONHAP) – South Korea added 314,000 jobs in Mar, from a year earlier, marking a first increase in 13 months, statistical office data showed today.
Employed people in the Asian country totaled 26,923,000 in Mar, up by 314,000 from a year earlier, according to Statistics Korea. It was the first rebound since Feb, last year.
The OECD-method employment rate for those aged 15-64 stood at 65.7 percent in Mar, up 0.3 percentage points from a year ago.
The number of those unemployed rose by 36,000, year on year, to 1,215,000 in Mar. Jobless rate rose 0.1 percentage point to 4.3 percent last month.
The number of economically inactive population, who had no willingness to seek a job and remained unemployed, came in at 16,869,000 in Mar, down 54,000 from a year earlier.– NNN-YONHAP
