S.Korea Reports 542 More COVID-19 Cases, 110,688 In Total

SEOUL, Apr 13 (NNN-YONHAP) – South Korea reported 542 more cases of COVID-19 as of midnight, compared to 24 hours ago, raising the total number of infections to 110,688.

The daily caseload was down from 587 in the previous day, staying below 600 for two straight days.

The daily number of infections hovered in triple figures since Nov 8, owing to small cluster infections in Seoul and its surrounding Gyeonggi province, as well as, imported cases.

Of the new cases, 156 were Seoul residents and 163 were people residing in Gyeonggi province.

Fourteen cases were imported from overseas, lifting the combined figure to 7,865.

Five more deaths were confirmed, bringing the death toll to 1,775. The total fatality rate stood at 1.60 percent.

A total of 528 more patients were discharged from quarantine, after making full recovery, pulling up the combined number to 101,332. The total recovery rate was 91.55 percent.

The country tested more than 8.20 million people, among whom 8,004,247 tested negative for the virus and 85,584 are being checked.

Since the mass vaccination was launched on Feb 26, the country has administered COVID-19 vaccines to a total of 1,195,342, with 60,557 fully vaccinated.– NNN-YONHAP
