FAIZABAD, Apr 10 (NNN-AGENCIES) – At least 26 militants, including a Taliban shadow district chief, were killed, and 23 others wounded, when Afghan Air Force launched airstrikes in the country’s northern Badakhshan province, last night, an army source confirmed.

“The accurate strikes were conducted in surrounding areas of Wardoj district. The intelligence reports confirmed that Qari Haidar, who served as Taliban shadow district chief for Wardoj, was among those killed,” Abdul Hadi Jamal from the army’s Pamir 217 Corps said.

A Taliban control and command center and six defence positions of the militants were also destroyed, he said, adding that, no civilians were affected as the Taliban hideout is in a remote area.

A handful of weapons and ammunition were also destroyed, he said.

The militant group has not responded to the report so far.– NNN-AGENCIES
