Mongolia Records 689 New COVID-19 Cases, One More Death

ULAN BATOR, Apr 10 (NNN-MONGOLIAWEB) – Mongolia recorded 689 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, bringing its national tally to 14,183, the National Centre for Communicable Diseases (NCCD), said today.

The latest confirmed cases were locally transmitted, and most of them were detected in the country’s capital, Ulan Bator, the country’s hardest-hit area during the pandemic, the NCCD said in a statement.

Meanwhile, one more death and 353 more recoveries were reported, taking the nationwide counts to 24 and 8,875, respectively, the centre said.

In recent days, more than 600 COVID-19 infections have been reported on a daily basis in the country, mostly in Ulan Bator, which is home to over half of the country’s population of 3.3 million. Domestic transmissions of the virus have been reported in the capital city and 18 of all 21 provinces of the country.

A full nationwide lockdown, aimed at curbing the steep surge in local COVID-19 cases, took effect today and will last until Apr 25.– NNN-MONGOLIAWEB
