TASHKENT, Apr 6 (NNN-AGENCIES) – Uzbekistan will enhance trade and transport links with Iran, in order to increase trade volumes, the country’s foreign ministry said here yesterday.
Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister, Abdulaziz Kamilov, met with visiting Iranian counterpart, Mohammad Javad Zarif, to discuss bilateral relations, as well as, neighbouring Afghanistan, the ministry said.
Both sides discussed the implementation of interregional transport and logistics projects, which are aimed at increasing the volume of mutual trade.
According to the Uzbek foreign ministry, the Iranian side confirmed its interest, in participating in a high-level international conference, on the challenges and opportunities in Central and South Asia, to be held later this year in Tashkent.
The ministers also exchanged views on Afghanistan. The Iranian side said, it appreciated the work by Uzbekistan to support the Afghan negotiations and the socio-economic reconstruction of the country.– NNN-AGENCIES
