JAKARTA, Mar 5 (NNN-ANTARA) – A 5.8-magnitude quake jolted Indonesia’s western province of West Sumatra today, the meteorology and geophysics agency, said.
The quake struck at 2:32 p.m. local time (0732 GMT), with the epicentre at 54 km north-west of Mentawai islands, and the shallow at 24 km under-land.
The intensity of the quake was felt at III to IV MMI (Modified Mercalli Intensity) in the provincial capital of Padang, Painan town and Pariaman district; II to III MMI in Agam district, Bukit Tinggi city and Padang Panjang city.
