Sumatera’s MT Sinabung Erupts Again


JAKARTA, March 2 (NNN-Bernama) — Mount Sinabung in North Sumatra, Indonesia erupted again early Tuesday morning, shooting clouds of smoke and ash as high as 5,000 metres.

According to a statement from Indonesia’s Centre for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG), the eruption occurred at 6.42 am (western Indonesian time), with the smoke and ash moving in an east-southeast direction.

The 2,451m volcano became active again in 2010.
