Magnitude-6.2 quake strikes off Japan’s Hokkaido Prefecture

TOKYO, Japan, Mar 2 (NNN-AGENCIES) – A magnitude-6.2 earthquake hit off the south-east coast of Japan’s Hokkaido Prefecture on Saturday, according to Japan Meteorological Agency.

The temblor occurred at about 12:22 local time(0322 GMT), with its epicentre at a latitude of 42.1 degrees north and a longitude of 146.8 degrees east, and at a depth of 10 km.

The quake logged four, in some parts of Hokkaido Prefecture, on the Japanese seismic intensity scale, which peaks at seven.

So far no tsunami warning has been issued.– NNN-AGENCIES
