SANTIAGO, Feb 26 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) – Chile’s Health Ministry, yesterday reported 4,181 new COVID-19 infections, and 137 more deaths, according to data collected in the last 24 hours, which brings the accumulated total to 812,344 cases and 20,310 deaths.
Of the country’s total caseload, 770,190 have recovered, while 21,383 remain active.
Minister of Health, Enrique Paris, said, during the daily report that, in the last seven days, eight regions in the South American country have seen their cases reduced, although “this doesn’t mean that we are experiencing a significant change in the decline of cases, but rather that we are in a stabilisation phase.”
Chile has been facing a resurgence of COVID-19 infections since Dec, mainly in its northern and southern regions, which have coincided with the country’s summer vacation season, and the wave of COVID-19 cases has consequently increased the demand for hospitalisation.– NNN-PRENSA LATINA
