French Presidential Envoy Expects “Concrete Reforms” In Lebanon

BEIRUT, Lebanon, Mar 2 (NNN-NNA) – French presidential envoy, Pierre Dukan, said that, the international community will be highly alert about every step taken by Lebanon, to make sure that the country is implementing all needed reforms, to comply with the CEDRE funds, media reported.

“It is sure that reforms cannot be completely performed in a few weeks, but Lebanon must at least start with the urgent plans and changes included in the ministerial statement of the new government,” Dukan was quoted as saying.

Dukan added that Lebanon must start urgently with reforms, in a bid to send positive signals to the international community and have access to loans and grants pledged at CEDRE.

His remarks came, during a press conference held after his meeting with Lebanese Prime Minister, Saad Hariri.

Dukan emphasised great importance on infrastructure projects, reforms in productive sectors and fight against corruption.

“This is a great difficulty facing the country,” he said.

Lebanon secured loans and grants from international donors at CEDRE, an international conference, in support of Lebanon’s development and reforms, to revamp its ailing infrastructure and bolster its economy.– NNN-NNA
