S.Korea Reports 357 More COVID-19 Cases, 87,681 In Total

SEOUL, Feb 23 (NNN-YONHAP) – South Korea reported 357 more cases of COVID-19 as of midnight, compared to 24 hours ago, raising the total number of infections to 87,681.

The daily caseload was up from 332 in the previous day, but it stayed below 400 for two straight days.

The daily number of infections hovered above 100 since Nov 8 last year, owing to cluster infections in Seoul and its surrounding Gyeonggi province, as well as, imported cases.

Of the new cases, 118 were Seoul residents and 122 were people residing in Gyeonggi province.

Twenty-seven cases were imported from overseas, lifting the combined figure to 6,940.

Eleven more deaths were confirmed, making the death toll at 1,573. The total fatality rate stood at 1.79 percent.

A total of 507 more patients were discharged from quarantine after making full recovery, pulling up the combined number to 78,394. The total recovery rate was 89.41 percent.

The country tested more than 6.47 million people, among whom 6,310,933 tested negative for the virus and 74,065 are being checked.– NNN-YONHAP
