ISLAMABAD, Feb 19 (NNN-APP) – A soldier was killed and two people were injured, in a bomb explosion in Quetta city of Pakistan’s south-west Balochistan province yesterday, officials said.
Some unknown militants parked an explosive-laden motorbike at the roadside and exploded it, when a vehicle of the paramilitary troops Frontier Corps passed by it, sources from an intelligence agency in the city said.
The explosion left the soldier killed and two passersby injured, who have been shifted to a nearby hospital.
Security forces cordoned off the area and called in bomb disposal squad to collect details about the explosion from the blast site.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet, but most of the blasts of the kind are attributed to anti-government organisations working as proxies of hostile agencies in the province.
A wave of terrorism recently resurged in Balochistan, where an increase in terrorist attacks on security forces and civilians has been witnessed.
Earlier this month, two people were killed and 19 others injured, in two separate attacks on public rallies in Balochistan.– NNN-APP
