NEW DELHI, Feb 13 (NNN-PTI) – India’s COVID-19 tally rose to 10,892,746 today, as 12,143 new cases were registered, during the past 24 hours, the latest data from the federal health ministry, showed.
According to the official data, the death toll mounted to 155,550, as 103 COVID-19 patients died since yesterday morning.
There are still 136,571 active cases in the country, while 10,600,625 people have been discharged from hospitals after medical treatment.
Jan 16 was a crucial day in India’s fight against the pandemic, as the nationwide vaccination drive got off from that day. So far, nearly eight million people, mainly health workers, have been vaccinated.
Meanwhile, the federal government ramped up COVID-19 testing across the country, as more than 205 million tests have been conducted so far.
Altogether 205,533,398 tests have been conducted till yesterday, out of which 743,614 tests were conducted yesterday alone, said the latest data issued by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) today.
The capital, Delhi, which is one of the most COVID-19 affected places in the country, has been witnessing comparatively fewer cases over the past several months. Altogether only 141 new cases and three deaths were registered in the national capital yesterday.
So far 10,889 people have died in the national capital, confirmed Delhi’s health department.– NNN-PTI
