. The virus has killed at least 2,355,410 people since the outbreak emerged
in China in December 2019.
The US is the worst-affected country with 471,575 deaths followed by
Brazil with 234,850, Mexico with 169,760, India with 155,360 and the UK with 114,851.
More than 100,000 people have died in the Middle East from Covid-19 since
the start of the pandemic.
The World Health Organization warns of a “false sense of security” in Europe, saying most of its nations were still vulnerable despite a fall in cases.

territories around the world
Mexican regulators give emergency approval to the Chinese-made CanSino

. Ireland’s lockdown is extended until April with restaurants, non-essential
shops and schools closed and people told to stay at home.
The European Union slashes its growth forecast for 2021 due to the
pandemic, but insists GDP growth in the 19 countries that use the euro would hit 3.8 percent, although later than originally hoped.
Uber reports a loss of $968 million in the final three months of 2020, as
its ride business struggled during the pandemic despite a boost from its
food-delivery services.
. FIFA president Gianni Infantino said that virus restrictions could still be in place for next year’s World Cup in Qatar but insisted stadiums would be full.
New York will allow stadiums and large venues to open at 10 percent
