ISLAMABAD, Feb 9 (NNN-APP) – Three labourers were killed and another one was wounded, after unidentified assailants opened fire at them, in Pakistan’s south-west Kalat district of Balochistan province.
The labourers were digging tube wells in agricultural land, when unknown gunmen came and opened fire indiscriminately, killing three on the spot, while another received bullet injury in his leg, when he tried to escape, police sources in the area said.
The assailants fled the scene after the attack, said the sources, adding that, the killed labourers were from the country’s east Punjab province and have been working in various areas of the district for months.
Following the incident, police shifted the injured to a hospital and the bodies have been sent back to their hometowns, after due process. Police also launched a search operation, to track down the assailants.
No group has immediately claimed the attack, but banned separatist groups have been involved in such attacks in the province before.
Taking notice of the deadly attack, Balochistan Home Minister, Mir Ziaullah Langove, sought a report from concerned authorities, and directed them to arrest the killers, as soon as possible.– NNN-APP
