Myanmar Military Calls For Stability Amid Protests Nationwide

YANGON, Feb 9 (NNN-MNA) – The Myanmar military, yesterday, called for stability in the country, amid ongoing protests nationwide.

In a statement, the military called for stability, public security and ensuring the rule of law.

Peaceful protests across Myanmar continued yesterday. Demonstrators demanded the release of State Counsellor, Aung San Suu Kyi, among others.

The country declared a one-year state of emergency, after President U Win Myint and Aung San Suu Kyi were detained by the military on Feb 1.

The military had demanded the postponement of new parliamentary sessions, alleging massive voting fraud, in the Nov, 2020 general elections, which saw the National League for Democracy win a majority of seats, in both houses of parliament.

Myanmar’s Union Election Commission dismissed the allegation.– NNN-MNA
