India’s COVID-19 Tally Rises To 10,814,304, As Active Cases Fall Below 150,000

NEW DELHI, Feb 6 (NNN-PTI) – India’s COVID-19 tally rose to 10,814,304 today, as 11,713 new cases were registered during the past 24 hours, said the latest data from the federal health ministry.

According to the official data, the death toll mounted to 154,918, as 95 COVID-19 patients died since yesterday.

There are still 148,590 active cases in the country, while 10,510,796 people have been discharged so far from hospitals after medical treatment.

Jan 16 was a crucial day in India’s fight against the pandemic when the nationwide vaccination drive kicked off. So far nearly 5.3 million people, mainly health workers, have been vaccinated across the country.

Meanwhile, the government ramped up COVID-19 testing facilities across the country, as over 200 million tests have been conducted so far.

As many as 200,672,589 tests have been conducted till yesterday, out of which 740,794 tests were conducted yesterday alone, said the latest data issued by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) today.

The national capital Delhi, which has been one of the most COVID-19 affected places in the country, has been witnessing comparatively fewer cases over the past several months. Only as many as 154 new cases and two deaths were registered in Delhi through yesterday.

So far, as many as, 10,873 people have died in the capital, confirmed Delhi’s health department.– NNN-PTI
