India’s COVID-19 Tally Rises To 10,802,591 With 12,408 New Cases

NEW DELHI, Feb 5 (NNN-PTI) – India’s COVID-19 tally rose to 10,802,591 today, as 12,408 new cases were registered during the past 24 hours, said the latest data from the health ministry.

According to the official data, the death toll mounted to 154,823, as 120 COVID-19 patients died since yesterday morning.

There are still 151,460 active cases in the country, while 10,496,308 people have been discharged so far, from hospitals after treatment.

India kicked off the nationwide vaccination drive on Jan 16. So far, nearly five million people, mainly health workers have been vaccinated.

Two types of vaccines are being administered, namely the Covishield vaccine, made by the Serum Institute of India (SII) and the Covaxin vaccine, made by the Bharat Biotech International Limited.

Meanwhile, 199,931,795 tests have been conducted, out of which 715,776 tests were conducted yesterday alone, said the latest data, today.

The national capital Delhi, which has been one of the most COVID-19 affected places in the country, has been witnessing a comparatively lower number of cases recently. Only 158 new cases and seven deaths were registered till yesterday, while 10,871 people have died in Delhi, confirmed the Delhi’s health department.– NNN-PTI
