India’s COVID-19 Tally Rises To 10,766,245

NEW DELHI, Feb 2 (NNN-PTI) – India’s COVID-19 tally rose to 10,766,245 today, as 8,635 new cases were registered during the past 24 hours, said the latest data from the federal health ministry.

According to the official data, the death toll mounted to 154,486, with 94 new deaths.

There are still 163,353 active cases, while 10,448,406 people have been discharged so far from hospitals, after medical treatment.

The nationwide vaccination drive kicked off last month, and so far nearly four million people, mainly health workers, have been vaccinated across the country.

Meanwhile, the federal government ramped up COVID-19 testing facilities across the country, as over 197 million tests have been conducted so far.

As many as 197,752,057 tests were conducted till yesterday, out of which 659,422 tests were conducted yesterday alone, said the latest data, issued by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) today.

The national capital, New Delhi, one of the most COVID-19 affected places in the country, has been witnessing comparatively a lesser number of cases, over the past several months, as only 121 new cases and three deaths were registered through Monday.

This is the lowest number of deaths in over 10 months.

So far, as many as 10,856 people have died in New Delhi, confirmed Delhi’s health department.
