Laos Conducts Over 100,000 Tests For COVID-19

VIENTIANE, Jan 26 (NNN-KPL) – Laos conducted 102,017 tests for COVID-19 since Jan, 2020, with 44 of them positive and 41 patients having been discharged from hospitals, Deputy Director General of the Department of Communicable Disease Control, under Lao Ministry of Health, Sisavath Soutthaniraxay, told a press conference in Vientiane today.

Authorities and people countrywide must continue their efforts in implementing preventative measures. It was essential that every person and all relevant authorities strictly abide by the new normal guidelines and rules, set by the Lao government.

Yesterday, a total of 1,805 people entered Laos through international border checkpoints. Body temperature checks showed no one has signs of fever.

According to the National Taskforce Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, it has been monitoring 2,117 people at 33 accommodation centres across the country.

Laos detected its first two COVID-19 cases on Mar 24.– NNN-KPL
