Students skip rope in a playground at El Hadana school in Zanzur, east of Tripoli
TRIPOLI, Jan 23 (NNN-Xinhua) — The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) said it has refurbished three schools in the city of Al-Khoms, some 120 km east of the capital Tripoli.
With the support of the European Union (EU) in Libya, 1,083 students will begin a new academic year in the three refurbished schools, UNICEF said.
Abdulkadir Musse, UNICEF special representative in Libya, expressed gratitude for the EU’s support for children’s education in Libya.
“When we invest in our children’s education, they can achieve their aspirations and dreams,” he said.
As infrastructure has been damaged severely after years of armed conflict and unrest, the local authorities struggle to provide basic services for the people, mainly proper education and healthcare. — NNN-XINHUA
