DAMASCUS, Jan 21 (NNN-SANA) – The Syrian Foreign Ministry yesterday demanded the “immediate and unconditional withdrawal” of U.S. forces from Syria.
In a statement, the ministry condemned what it called, the “hostile practices” of the U.S. forces, in north-eastern Syria.
It accused the U.S. forces of “systematic theft” of oil and agricultural resources in northern Syria, in addition to bringing in military reinforcement to that part of the country.
The outgoing administration of former President, Donald Trump, had destabilised the region and supported separatist movements, in a bid to divide Syria and prevent it from reaching a political solution, through supporting “terrorist groups,” the ministry charged.
The ministry, meanwhile, called on the international community, to condemn the U.S. moves and occupation of Syrian territories, and denounce the “coercive and unilateral” sanctions imposed on Syria.
It’s worth noting that the U.S. forces have several positions in areas controlled by the Kurdish militias in north-eastern Syria.
The Syrian government has repeatedly called for the withdrawal of U.S. forces, slamming the U.S. claims that its forces are present in Syria to fight terrorist groups.– NNN-SANA
