DHAKA, Jan 20 (NNN-BSS) – The total number of Bangladesh’s mobile phone users hit over 170 million at the end of 2020, with an addition of 4.57 million new users last year, showed the latest statistics of the country’s telecom regulator.
According to data from the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC), the number of subscribers in the country reached 170.137 million in Dec, 2020.
Currently the country has four mobile companies, three of which are foreign-backed cell phone operators.
The number of subscribers of mobile operators, Grameen Phone Ltd., Robi Axiata Limited, Banglalink Digital Communications Limited and Teletalk Bangladesh Ltd. stood at 79.037 million, 50.901 million, 35.272 million and 4.927 million, respectively, at the end of last year.
According to statistics of the country’s telecom regulator, the number of Bangladesh’s mobile phone subscribers stood at 165.572 million, at the end of Dec, 2019.– NNN-BSS
