TEHRAN, Jan 19 (NNN-MNA) – Iranian health authorities announced yesterday, 5,806 new confirmed infections, taking the country’s overall count to 1,336,217 cases.
Of the newly infected in the past 24 hours, 586 had to be hospitalised, according to the Iranian Ministry of Health and Medical Education’s spokeswoman, Sima Sadat Lari.
Speaking at her daily briefing, Sadat Lari said, 83 new deaths were registered between Sunday and yesterday, raising the epidemic’s death toll in Iran to 56,886.
She added that 4,348 patients are currently in critical condition, in the country’s intensive care units, while 1,125,499 others have recovered and discharged.
The spokesperson warned about the risk of infection in bakeries in particular, and made a call on the general population to respect health protocols and avoid those places when feeling symptoms similar to those of common cold.
