Iran, Turkey Sign Agreements To Boost Railway Cooperation

TEHRAN, Jan 19 (NNN-IRNA) – Railways of the Islamic Republic of Iran (RAI), announced yesterday, the signing of three agreements with Turkey, to expand bilateral rail cooperation, to further develop the routes linking Turkey to Afghanistan and Pakistan.

According to Iran’s Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, the signing of the three documents was to maximise freight and passenger transport, between Iran and Turkey.

Saeed Rasouli, the managing director of RAI, was quoted as saying, by a press release from the ministry that, “it is necessary to expand rail cooperation between the two friendly and neighbouring countries.”

The signing of these agreements will improve the connection of Turkey’s routes to Afghanistan and Pakistan, as well as, the link between Iran’s southern ports and Turkey, he said.– NNN-IRNA
