Kuwait To Suspend Int’l Commercial Flights, Close Borders

KUWAIT, Dec 22 (NNN-KUNA) – Kuwait will suspend all international commercial flights from and to Kuwait, and close its land and sea border crossings, the Kuwaiti government said.

Tareq Al-Mezrem, the Kuwaiti government spokesman, said on Twitter that, the decision will come into force from 11 p.m. yesterday until Jan 1, 2021.

The continuation of this decision shall be reviewed in light of new matters, with the exception of cargo and shipping operations, he said.

Kuwait’s Directorate-General for Civil Aviation, banned on Sunday, commercial flights coming from the United Kingdom (UK) starting from 11 a.m. yesterday.

Kuwait’s COVID-19 cases increased by 230 to 148,209 yesterday, while the death toll rose by one to 922.– NNN-KUNA

The Kuwaiti Health Ministry also announced the recovery of 216 more patients, taking the total recoveries to 144,142.
