NEW DELHI, Dec 20 (NNN-PTI) – Five people were killed and one injured, by a cement-laden truck, that ran over them, in the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.
The truck ran over the people, who had gathered on the road, trying to rescue an accident victim. The tragedy occurred at Raghavampalli village, in Anantapur district, about 497 km west of Amaravati, a major city in Andhra Pradesh.
“Last night, some people gathered, to rescue a man whose bike was hit by an unknown vehicle, at Raghavampalli village of Bathalapalli block. While they were trying to give him first-aid and making efforts to remove him to hospital, a speedy truck, laden with cement bags, ran into them,” a police official said.
“Five people, including the one who was being rescued, were killed and one was injured,” said the official.
According to police, the truck sped off from the spot. Police have launched a manhunt to nab the driver.– NNN-PTI
