CAIRO, Dec 20 (NNN-MENA) – Egyptian President, Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi, discussed yesterday, efforts to resume the Middle East peace process, with foreign ministers of Jordan and Palestine.
During a meeting in Cairo, President Sisi affirmed to the Jordanian and Palestinian foreign ministers that, his country will continue its tireless efforts, to solve the Palestinian cause, Egyptian Presidential Spokesman, Bassam Rady, said in a statement.
Sisi also stressed the importance of uniting Arab and international efforts, to revitalise peace negotiations between the Palestinian and Israeli sides, in parallel with efforts to achieve national Palestinian reconciliation, in order to promote the path of achieving the desired peace.
Meanwhile, the Jordanian and Palestinian top diplomats appreciated Egypt’s relentless efforts to solve and establish an independent Palestinian cause.
Earlier in the day, Egyptian Foreign Minister, Sameh Shoukry and his Jordanian and Palestinian counterparts, met in Cairo, where they discussed methods of reviving the Middle East peace process and resuming negotiations between the Palestinian and the Israeli sides.
The ministers also stressed the necessity of urging Israel to return to the negotiating table, in order to reach a settlement based on the UN-proposed two-state solution, including the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Negotiations between the Palestinians and Israelis have been stalled since Mar, 2014, after nine months of U.S.-sponsored talks that failed to make any breakthrough.– NNN-MENA
