COLOMBO, Dec 17 (NNN-SLNEWS) – Sri Lanka’s cabinet approved to host the summit of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) next year, the local Daily News reported here yesterday.
The BIMSTEC groups seven nations of South Asia and Southeast Asia, including Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Thailand.
The summit was previously scheduled for Jan, 2020, but was postponed amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The last BIMSTEC summit was held in Nepal in Aug, 2017.– NNN-SLNEWS
