Syria Condemns Turkey For Cutting Off Water Supply In Syria’s Hasakah

DAMASCUS, Dec 15 (NNN-SANA) – The Syrian Foreign Ministry, yesterday condemned Turkey, for cutting off water supply in the country’s north-eastern province of Hasakah.

In a statement, addressing the UN Security Council, the ministry said, Turkish forces had cut off the supply of the Alouk water station, the main water source that feeds about one million people in Hasakah.

The Turkish forces have cut off water supply in Hasakah 17 times since Oct, 2019, said the ministry, adding, the station has been shut down since Nov 30.

Turkey aims to exert pressure on the Syrian government through “illegal and inhuman practices,” it said.

The Syrian ministry urged the UN Security Council to put an end to the “Turkish violations” and the Turkish presence in areas in northern Syria.– NNN-SANA
