PANAMA CITY, Dec 14 (NNN-Xinhua) — Flights by Venezuelan airlines to Panama would be cancelled beginning on Sunday until Panama receives “fair and equal” treatment, Panama’s aviation authority said in a statement.
The authority said it took the measure after Venezuela restricted access to Panama’s Copa Airlines, saying that flights were suspended until Venezuela permitted Copa to resume its service.
The Copa said Saturday it will suspend its flights to and from Venezuela’s capital starting on Sunday, on the orders of the Venezuelan government.
“We were notified by the government of Venezuela of the cancellation of our Panama-Caracas / Caracas-Panama flights starting from Dec 13. We regret the inconvenience this action may cause,” Copa Airlines tweeted. — NNN-XINHUA
