LAGOS, Dec 13 (NNN-IRIN) – At least 10 people were killed early yesterday morning, after a car rammed into a stationary truck in Jigawa, a state in Nigeria’s north-west region, local police said.
Two other people survived, but suffered injuries, said Abdu Jinjiri, the state police spokesperson, in a statement.
The accident, which occurred along the busy Hadejia-Kano road, in the Ringim area of the state, involved a truck and a car that was carrying 12 passengers, the spokesperson added.
The passengers were heading to Kano, a state in Nigeria’s north-west region.
Further investigation is underway, Jinjiri added.
Deadly road accidents are frequently reported in Nigeria, often caused by overloading, bad road conditions, and reckless driving.– NNN-IRIN
