GHAZNI, Nov 30 (NNN-AGENCIES) – At least 30 military personnel were killed and 24 others wounded, after a suicide car bomb hit a military camp in Ghazni, capital of Afghanistan’s eastern Ghazni province, yesterday.
“Some 30 killed and 24 wounded were admitted at main civil hospital in Ghazni, following an explosion this (yesterday) morning,” Baz Mohammad Hemat, director of Ghazni civil hospital, said.
The explosion occurred when a suicide bomber rammed an explosive-laden hijacked military vehicle, to a military camp, along a road connecting Ghazni city to neighbouring Dih Yak district, a security official said.
“The killed and wounded were all military personnel. The camp houses a battalion of Afghan National Army (ANA). The facility belonged to the police forces in the past, but now converted to a battalion of ANA,” he said.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but local officials blamed Taliban militants for it.
The province has been the scene of heavy clashes in recent years, as Taliban militants attempted to seize it and consolidate their position in the region.– NNN-AGENCIES
