YANGON, Nov 29 (NNN-MNA) – Myanmar’s national-level Central Committee on Prevention, Control and Treatment for COVID-19, yesterday extended the period of preventive measures to Dec 15.
The extension will apply to all orders, announcements, directives, issued by respective union level government organisations and ministries, which expires tomorrow, as part of preventive measures to curb the spread.
According to a release from the Health and Sports Ministry, Myanmar reported 1,344 new COVID-19 infections with 22 more deaths in the past 24 hours.
As of yesterday, the number of cases increased to 87,977, while the death toll registered 1,887, the ministry said.
A total of 67,588 recovered patients have been discharged from hospitals so far.
The virus was first detected in Myanmar on Mar 23, this year and over 1.13 million samples have been tested.
Meanwhile, the Road Transport Department, under the Ministry of Transport and Communications, issued an announcement to resume new vehicle registrations starting Dec 1, at its branches in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon and Mandalay.
The registration operations for new vehicles will be carried out with daily limited numbers of vehicles, in order to avoid crowding.
The Road Transport Department suspended all operations in early Sept, due to rocketing number of daily COVID-19 infections across the country.– NNN-MNA
