CAIRO, Nov 26 (NNN-MENA) – Iran announced a new daily record of 13,843 confirmed COVID-19 infections, raising the total number to 894,385. Meanwhile, the country said, it will import about 42 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines for over 20 million people.
Among the newly infected in the past 24 hours, 2,370 had to be hospitalised, spokeswoman for Iran’s Ministry of Health and Medical Education, Sima Sadat Lari said, at her daily briefing, reported on the ministry’s website.
As of yesterday, the virus had claimed 46,207 lives in Iran, after an overnight registration of 469 new deaths.
Sadat Lari added that, 625,606 cases have by now recovered or been discharged from hospitals, but 5,832 others remain in intensive care units.
The Iraqi Health Ministry reported 2,438 new cases, bringing the total nationwide infections to 542,187.
The ministry also reported 55 new deaths and 2,270 more recovered cases, raising the death toll from the infectious virus to 12,086 and the total recoveries to 472,054.
Iraqi Health Minister, Hassan al-Tamimi, told the Iraqi News Agency that the increase in daily infections is largely due to people’s negligence and non-compliance with health instructions, stressing the need for citizens’ cooperation by adhering to health-protective measures.
Turkey reported 6,814 daily infections, pushing the total confirmed cases in the country to 467,730, while the death toll rose by 168 to 12,840 and the tally of recoveries increased to 385,480.
Israel’s Ministry of Health reported 743 new cases, bringing the tally to 331,678. The number of deaths rose by four to 2,826, while the overall recoveries hit 319,842.
Earlier on Tuesday, the gradual reopening of schools in Israel continued, with the resumption of the 5th and 6th grade classes in the cities and towns with low COVID-19 morbidity.
Saudi Arabia reported 326 new cases and 14 more fatalities, raising the total infections in the kingdom to 356,067, and the death toll to 5,825. The tally of recoveries increased to 344,787.
Morocco confirmed 4,979 new cases and 70 more deaths, taking the tally of infections in the country to 336,506 and the death toll to 5,539. The tally of recoveries rose to 284,496.
Jordan announced 5,025 new infections and 62 more deaths, pushing the tally of confirmed cases to 198,021 and the total deaths to 2,442. The total number of recoveries rose to 131,181.
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) confirmed 1,297 new cases and four more deaths, bringing the total infections in the UAE to 162,662 and the total death count to 563. The number of recoveries rose to 151,044.
Kuwait reported 422 new cases and one more death, raising the tally of infections to 141,217 and the death toll to 871 in the country.
The Kuwaiti Health Ministry also announced the recovery of 626 more patients, taking the total recoveries in the country to 134,033.
The Qatari health ministry announced 209 new infections, raising the total number of confirmed cases in the Gulf state to 137,851.
Meanwhile, 252 more recovered from the virus, bringing the overall recoveries to 134,950, while fatalities went up by one to 237.
Algeria recorded 1,025 new daily infections, the highest number in the country since the pandemic outbreak in late Feb, bringing the total cases in the country to 78,025.
It also reported 20 more deaths, taking the death toll in Algeria to 2,329 and total recoveries reached 50,712.– NNN-MENA
