SHIBERGHAN, Nov 24 (NNN-AGENCIES) – The Afghan National Defence and Security Forces (ANDSF), killed six militants, during an ongoing search operation in Fayzabad district, of northern Jawzjan province, the provincial police chief said yesterday.
“The ANSDSF launched search operation on Saturday, six militants were killed and five others wounded during clashes with security forces so far, and several villagers had been cleared from militants,” Gen. Abdul Wahid Wejdan, said.
The raid was conducted after Taliban militants disrupted freedom of movement and extort villagers, as well as drivers, along Highway No. 1, passing through Fayzabad, he said.
On Saturday, five district police, including deputy provincial police chief, Shah Aqa Shetab, were wounded after Taliban militants ambushed their vehicle with a roadside bomb in Fayzabad, the police chief said, adding, the raid will continue until the district is cleared of militants.
The ANDSF has been continuing cleanup operations across Afghanistan since early this year, as daily violence and clashes remain in the country.
Taliban militants have not responded to the report, so far.– NNN-AGENCIES
