India’s COVID-19 Tally Mounts To 8,874,290, New Cases Down Below 30,000 Mark

NEW DELHI, Nov 17 (NNN-PTI) – India’s COVID-19 tally reached 8,874,290 today, as 29,163 new cases were registered across the country in the past 24 hours, latest data by the federal health ministry showed.

This is the first time in several months when the number of new cases in the country has come down below the 30,000-mark.

With 449 deaths since yesterday morning, the total death toll in the country mounted to 130,519, added the ministry’s data.

Still there are 453,401 active COVID-19 cases in the country, while 8,290,370 people have been successfully cured and discharged from hospitals so far.

In the wake of surge in cases in Delhi, over the past few days, a high-level meeting was held in the Indian capital on Sunday, which decided to double the testing capacity and also provide more intensive care unit (ICU) beds to the city.

Till yesterday a total of 126,542,907 tests have been conducted in the country, out of which 844,382 tests were conducted on Monday alone, according to data from the Indian Council of Medical Research, today.– NNN-PTI
