ISLAMABAD, Nov 14 (NNN-APP) – The Pakistani army said last night that four civilians and a soldier were killed, in Indian firing along the Line of Control (LoC), in the Kashmir region.
An army statement said, the Indian army “opted for resorting to unprovoked and indiscriminate firing of all calibres,” including artillery and heavy mortars, along the LoC in various sectors.
Four civilians and one soldier were killed while 12 civilians and five soldiers got injured in the firing, the statement from the army’s media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations, said.
The statement said that, in response to this “provocative act,” the Pakistani army gave a befitting reply to the Indian army, and effectively targeted those Indian posts which engaged civilians.
“As a result, substantial losses, both in terms of men and material, have been incurred on the Indian troops, which have also been accepted by Indian media. Indian’s confirmed losses are much more than being acknowledged,” the statement added.
Earlier, the Foreign Ministry of Pakistan said, a senior Indian diplomat was summoned to register Pakistan’s strong protest over ceasefire violations by the Indian forces, resulting in the death of one civilian and serious injuries to three others.
Pakistan and India declared a ceasefire along the LoC, the de facto border between both countries, in the disputed Kashmir region in 2003. However, both sides routinely exchange fire and accuse each other of ceasefire violations.– NNN-APP
